I’d like to introduce you to your child’s
binder. This binder is a means
of maintaining effective organization and
communication between
home and school. Your child will take it home
daily and is responsible for carrying it
with
him/her to each class. I will be checking the
contents of the binder
each morning. Here is
how our binder is organized:
Pencil Pouch:
Sharpened pencils, a glue stick, a red pen, and
map pencils go in this pocket. Please place any
lunch money, field trip money, book order money,
etc. in this pouch.
Important Notes:
This section is for any important notes from
home
(such as afternoon bus/car changes, urgent
concerns, etc.) and any notes
that require
immediate attention. I also will put in
newsletters
or notes that
will keep you informed of fourth
grade activities.
Daily Agenda:
The student will write down the daily assignment
from each class and indicate if the assignment
was not completed
and therefore needs
to be done as homework. The
student is responsible for having his/her parent
check and sign the agenda
each evening. This is also where teachers of
all subjects will communicate with you about
upcoming events, homework
completion, or behavior.
Reading Log:
The student will record his/her AR reading
information in
the AR folder each day and
night. The student is responsible for reading
100 minutes weekly for a reading grade. The
student will
take their reading log folder to his/her parents
each evening to be signed off on minutes read.
Study Guides:
A weekly spelling list along with any other
study materials
will be in this pocket. We will
test on multiplication facts
daily and states and capitals tests will start in
November. (Information
to follow).
Homework Folder:
Homework assignments to be turned in the
next day in this folder.
Graded Papers Folder:
This pocket contains graded schoolwork
that may be kept and admired at home.
