Melissa Malloy
graduated from Mountain View-Gotebo High School as a Jr.
so
that she could travel to Italy as a foreign exchange student. She then attended Southwestern Oklahoma
State University receiving a degree in
Art Education in
2001. Currently, she
is working on a Master’s Degree in
education with a focus on curriculum and instruction from
California
State University, Bakersfield. She began her teaching career
at South Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow, OK where
she taught 9th and 10th grade studio art. The
following year, she moved to California where she taught elementary
art
for Noteworthy Learning Incorporated. In this position she
traveled to elementary schools throughout
Orange County
teaching studio art as an after school
program.
She also held
the position of
educational program coordinator at Centennial Heritage Museum in Santa Ana.
In 2003 she accepted a position
at Canyon High School in Canyon
Country, CA where she taught 9th-12th grade studio art and
AP art history.
In July of 2006, she made the move
back home to Oklahoma to be closer to her
family. Before
coming to Centennial Elementary, she taught
7th-9th grade art at Eisenhower Jr. High School in
Lawton. She truly enjoys working with young students
again
at Centennial. Her hope is to
instill a love of art and art history in her students,
inspiring them to be creative throughout their lives.
Melissa is happily married to PJ Malloy.
In January 2008, they
celebrated the birth
of their beautiful baby girl, Magdelyn. |
