Third grade is off to a great start for the second nine week period. We are learning many new skills and concepts and the kids are doing great!  Please remember to fill
out your child's reading log and make sure they are taking and passing their Accelerated Reader tests.  The end of the nine week period will be Dec. 17th and they have to have all of their points by that date.  As the holidays get closer our schedules
get pretty hectic so please help your child take care of this responsibility.  It is hard to meet these goals when they get behind. The following skills will be covered during the 2nd nine week period.

    Reading -  context clues, character and visualization, author's purpose, predicting,
    dictionary skills, main idea and supporting details, cause and effect, glossary, and
    drawing conclusions.

    Math -  subtraction with regrouping, graphing, time-temperature-calendars,
    patterns and function machines, MULTIPLICATION FACTS...0's,1's,2's,3's,4's,5's.

    Social Studies and Science -  Environment, Citizenship/Elections, Pilgrims, Native
    Americans, Matter and Magnets, Holiday Customs

    English - Capitalization, Nouns...sing. plural..possessive, Verbs....past tense...
    present tense...subject/verb agreement, explanatory writing, writing letters, writing
    invitations.
