Physical Science (PS)

• Matter and its Interactions (PS1)
• Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions (PS2)
• Energy (PS3)
• Waves and Their Applications in Technologies for Information

 Life Science (LS)

• From Molecules to Organisms: Structure and Processes (LS1)
• Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics (LS2)
• Heredity: Inheritance and Variation of Traits (LS3)
• HIV/AIDS Education (grade 7 only)
• Biological Unity and Diversity (LS4)

Earth & Space Science (ESS)

• Earth’s Place in the Universe (ESS1)
• Earth’s Systems (ESS2)
• Earth and Human Activity (ESS4)

The course will incorporate scientific and engineering practices with scientific literacy and crosscutting concepts and math applications. Both classroom and outdoor activities might involve projects, outside reading, and hands-on design challenges within the course of study.

Students in Grade 8 Science will take the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) each spring. Additional resources for helping students prepare for the exam may be found at the OK State Department of Education website

To assist teachers and students in developing their understanding of the OAS-S, the district has adopted the McGraw-Hill IScience program.
