COVID-19 FAQs

Oklahoma Public Schools are closed through March 5, 2020.

Starting March 25, 2020 all public schools in the State of Oklahoma are closed throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.  As a result, all school building activities including school day instruction, child care, health services, enrichment, athletics and club sports, preschool etc. are cancelled.

Mustang Public Schools is working with our local and state health partners as we closely monitor the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Superintendent Bradley has been working in daily partnership with local, state, & federal health/education leaders to assess and respond to new information. Having a seat at the table ensures our voices are heard and included in decisions that impact all of us. We have been following the guidance of the Oklahoma Department of Health (ODH) and the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) while implementing preventive and responsive strategies, but in light of Governor Stitt’s March 16 request that all citizens practice measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, it is time for the district to act swiftly. Starting March 25, 2020 all public schools in the State of Oklahoma are closed through the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. All school building activities including school day instruction, child care, health services, enrichment, athletics and club sports, preschool etc. are cancelled.

As part of our emergency plan to address the closure of schools, we will provide sack lunches (containing a lunch and breakfast meal) prepared by our child nutrition staff. For details, please visit the Closure Resources Page.

No, the MERC will be closed to the public. Certain staff will be expected to continue to work during the closure to prepare school buildings for reopening, continue communications, and support educators, school leaders, families, and students.

We are in close contact with OSDE, and will be working to find ways to celebrate the Class of 2020. There are a number of decisions that need to be made to support our students. More information will be coming soon.

Child care and extended day programs (i.e. Mustang Community Education programs, BroncoClub, etc.) are canceled because ALL school buildings are closed. We know that closing our schools will impact our most vulnerable families and we recognize that working families depend on the consistency and predictability of supports and services our schools offer. We are working with partners and the city to determine how to best mitigate the impact closing schools will have on working families.

All events, practices, games, rehearsals, competitions, etc. are cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. More information can be found on the OSSAA website.

We understand this information sparks a lot of questions. Please know we are working closely with the Oklahoma State Department of Education to gather the information necessary to finalize our plans with regard to instructional resources, the academic calendar, providing student meals and much more. We will share details on these plans as they are availble on our Closure Resources Page. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to follow recommendations outlined by the Centers for Disease Control to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

Any activities in the closure window will be postponed or cancelled. We will update about specific activities on our normal communication channels (website, email, social media, etc.).

More information will be provided in the coming days regarding educational supports. Updates will be posted on our Closure Resources Page.

Please see our latest Testing Update for more information.

We are committed to keeping you informed and working with you to keep our school communities safe. Want resources to share with your children? We have some links on our main COVID-19 website, and will have more coming soon on our Closure Resources Page.

Where can I Turn for More Information?

As with any newly emerging infectious disease, knowledge evolves with time. Early on, it is difficult to know the source of the disease, the ways in which it spreads, how effectively it spreads from person to person, and how severe the infection is
